What to do when your car is due for scrap.. Memories of xiaohei

You know the absence of some things make your heart ache. And losing you is one of them.

You are one of the most memorable things in our life as you came into our life  at a important time. Right after we came back from our honeymoon. You were there.. A black knight in shinning armour waiting for us to pick u up.

You were there at our wedding.. you were there since when I conceive Isa.. You were here to shuttle me for all the pregnancies to the doctor.. You were there to bring me home when I'm so tired after a long day.. You were there to bring me to my favourite places.. You were always there on every single occasion..

But after today.. You will not be here anymore as we bade our last goodbye to you at the scrap yard on 30/04. Tears welled up in my eyes a little. But I had to bit my lips hard and fight back the tears. I don't even want to think I bear to see you being scraped! I think I'm one of the silliest person in the world to be so emo over a car. Or maybe tell me I'm not alone. It had been a jolly good ten years.

We have been calling her xiaohei (meaning Blackie) all these while. And only recently Dora has been calling her Xiao hei hei.. I'm sure I'm not alone to bear sending xiaohei for scrap.

What a journey.

By the way.. Ever wonder what u need to do before u scrap a car? Here are the simplified step by step administrative work you need to do before you proceed to drive your car to the scrap yard. I would recommend you should do this about 2-3 weeks ahead of the last day in which your car is due for scrap.

1. Apply for a PIN at www.onemotoring.com.sg for scrapping  your car. You should receive this PIN in your mail in about a week or so.
2. Settle all outstanding payments of the car. You need to go to your financial company (whether it's the bank or other financial company).
3. Call them the next day to make sure they release this thing called Form B. This is a very important as this procedure might take DAYS...... We called the bank like 3 times just to make sure it is done.
4. Look for the appointed scrap yards on the LTA website.
5. Documents to bring along when u surrender the car at the scrap yard.
- identify card, your PIN and a form to scrap the car (you can get a soft copy of this at the LTA website)
6. Say goodbye to the car!! Rem take some pictures at the scrap yard!
7. You will receive a stack of documents from the admin at the scrap yard office to tell you how to actually encash your the PARF value of the car at the LTA website, a letter to cancel your season parking and etc.
8. Mulled over the scrap car just like me :(

And here was our final goodbye.

in memory of our Grandma

we were there at your bed side
it was the first time when Isa called you "Tai Ma" (meaning great grandma)
your face divulged a weak and feeble smile
though it was not enough to create a crease on your face
but it was a smile..
a smile that was good enough to tell us all
that you were more than glad that Isa was there

as Isa planted a kiss on your hand
I saw a trickle of tear flowed down your face
perhaps Gugu ("Ray's aunt") seemed oblivious as she used a hanky to clean up the wetness
I actually knew it was more than just wetness from the eyes
It was a sign of joy
A sign that tells us all that you were more than glad that we appeared.

Ah ma..
thought I did not really serve you a cup of "grand daughter's tea"
but you still stand as one of the strongest lady that I had known
as you are one of the only ones who believe in Mummy ("Ray's mum)
despite all the rumours and the talkings
yet you still stand by her and accepted all her shortcomings
You will always remain in our heart as the no. 1 ah ma (or Tai Ma to Isa)

Have peace with God
and we thank you for your blessings.
with lotsa of love from your
Grandson ah Mun, Granddaughter in law Connie &
Great Grandson Isadore
we will miss you Grandma.

The journey of recovery..

Just a update to let you guys know that I am coping well. Not that I had totally forgotten what had happened but that I am recovering well and I would rather to have good memories of what happened then.

Anyway just collected beanie's photos from KKH last friday. Initially I wanted to put up a muzzled photos of beanie but thinking twice, I think I better dun as beanie dun reli look flattering in there. Thus hope all of you can have good memories of this little one, just like I will have.

Other than that, I am also resting at home till mid of June before I started going back to tuition again. As for my full time job, never had I expected that they actually granted me ML to rest till end of August so I am sorta quite free in my schedule so if you really need anyone to have coffee with you, do let me know ya? :)

And before I go off, I would like to say thank you to all you out there who had gave me your utmost moral support.. in any way as I just wan to let you knw "your support really beats anything else" and especially thanks to those who had said a prayer to Him for me. Thank you for your blessings and prayers. Trust me, they really help.

Also to the very important person in my life right now who he had never complain in any way.. yes baby. Thank you verymuch and I really love you. For being there when I need you the most, for offering me your hands to hold during my birth to beanie. For just being there for me in my weakest time. Never will I let go your this pair of hands and we shall continue to give our very best to Isa.

Baby moon-ing..

Tmr marks a special day for all of us as this is the first time we are bringing Isa overseas.. and it is to Bintan! Many of you may wonder: Why Bintan?
Well the reason is that my company is having a retreat there and family members are invited! But at a cost definitely. Not too expensive I would say. Anyway.. we are really getting very excited about the trip. I will update the pictures when we are back. We wil be away from 18/04-20/04. Wish me luck!

Btw here are some updates about beanie from the last check up on 14/04.

Beanie @ 23 weeks old: weighs 660gm

Isa @ 24 weeks old: weight 530gm

Connie mama @ 23 weeks preg: put on 7 kg

im halfway there.. @ 22 weeks

The baby now weighs almost one pound/ 430 grams, measures nearly 11 inches/ just over 27 centimetres long from crown to heel, and is proportioned like a newborn, albeit a thinner version since her baby fat hasn't yet developed. Although she's getting heavier every day, her skin still appears wrinkled because she needs to gain more weight. The lips are distinct and the eyes are formed, though the iris (the coloured part of the eye) still lacks pigment. The pancreas, essential in the production of hormones, is developing steadily. Even this early, the first signs of teeth appear in the form of tooth buds beneath the gum line. Before you know it, your baby will be born, and soon after, her first teeth will come through. You've probably gained between 12 and 15 pounds/ 5.4 and 6.8 kilograms. Starting now, you'll begin to put on weight more steadily, averaging about half a pound/ 225 grams per week. You may crave certain foods and you may notice an increased (but not bloody) vaginal discharge. Both are a normal part of being pregnant.

As I cross the halfway mark (40 weeks termed as full term pregnancy), all the pre-birth anxiety starts to hover around my thoughts again.
  • worry if I can have another natural birth again?
  • worry if I need to take epidural or not this time round?
  • worry if Isa will be jealous?
  • worry if big baby can take leave to stay at home to support me emotionally?

all these same old worries.. maybe its an emotional me at work again..

dizzy spells..

this is the first time .. (hopefully the last time) that I have quite a bad dizzy spell. This was what happened last Tuesday:

boarded the MRT from Boon Lay station. no seats available since the EW line starts from Joo Koon now. stood all the way till JE and I felt uneasy as more people squeezed into train, most of the cabins are congested with people so even less people noticed my bump (I supposed). Soon after the train moved off from JE, I felt even more queasy and I feel that my vision was starting to become blur, to a extend of whatever I see became whitish in colour and people's features started to fade. I know immediately that something was not right, for a while I thought I was having a headache so I shook my head (in normal reaction to having a headache) bt I still feel sucky.. (damn.. this is it).. Thus from Clementi station to Dover, I was literally feeling light-headed with my blurred vision. So I told myself, " if I am to cope, I shall alight at Dover and will take a seat at the passengers' platform and will rest then prob take cab to Dhoby Ghaut". But beforeI knew I could move, somebody tapped me on my shoulder and pointed a seat to ask me to seat so I sat down.

So I sat down and rest my head against the plastic panel and dozed off for a while. In the meanwhile I could feel that I had a outbreak of cold sweat. And when I opened my eyes, it was already Tanjong Pagar station. But I actually felt much better and my vision returned to normal.
This may not sound serious to everybody but the last time I had time dizzy spell was when I was in Poly and I fainted in the toilet of Yio Chu Kang MRT. Luckily there was this Samaritian who rubbed axe oil on my temples and I regained my consciousness soon. And that was almost exactly what happened on Tuesday then.

Not sure if why I got this feeling: could it be due to I am anaemic? or did this happened due to hormonal changes in my body as according to babycentre.com, an article on dizzy spells.

Hiak *evil plan in mind* should I ask Dr Tham give me another day MC as I am seeing him tmr? wahkkkk...

Akan datang..

or

Yesterday was just another day for my routine antenatal check up and this time round, it meant something special for me as it could be the moment of truth day so we brought baby Isa along.

But things did not turn out to be what we are expecting as our little friend inside was not cooperating well thus Dr Tham only commented: "Hmm we will only confirm the gender of the baby the next time round.. but I think it's gonna be a boy as I thought I saw something there (referring to the penis)" as he moved the ultrasound scanner around my tummy.. and guess what? As he was moving the ultrasound scanner around my tummy, baby Isa was fully focusing on the monitor and all he said was "baby baby.." in an exciting manner.. And that was the moment I felt that our baby Isa had indeed grown up.. into a little big brother!

I wun say I am disappointed or very excited this time round as compared when I was expecting Isa.. probably because:

  1. I was sorta expecting that I knew it was a boy from the beginning? Or

  2. maybe a boy means I could save $$ for beanie's clothes? Or maybe even..

  3. everyone has been saying, "you'll have a girl this time around since your face is clear from outbreak?"

oh well.. what else can we do except akan datang for my next routine check in mid March.

development at 14 weeks..

How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Connie: wonderful to know that beanie (nickname to my no. 2) is growing well.. as my morning sickness is moving off too. Now we can only wait and see if Dr Tham can tell us if it is going to be Izreal or Isadora.. *twirl fingers*
