Akan datang..

Yesterday was just another day for my routine antenatal check up and this time round, it meant something special for me as it could be the moment of truth day so we brought baby Isa along.

But things did not turn out to be what we are expecting as our little friend inside was not cooperating well thus Dr Tham only commented: "Hmm we will only confirm the gender of the baby the next time round.. but I think it's gonna be a boy as I thought I saw something there (referring to the penis)" as he moved the ultrasound scanner around my tummy.. and guess what? As he was moving the ultrasound scanner around my tummy, baby Isa was fully focusing on the monitor and all he said was "baby baby.." in an exciting manner.. And that was the moment I felt that our baby Isa had indeed grown up.. into a little big brother!

I wun say I am disappointed or very excited this time round as compared when I was expecting Isa.. probably because:

  1. I was sorta expecting that I knew it was a boy from the beginning? Or

  2. maybe a boy means I could save $$ for beanie's clothes? Or maybe even..

  3. everyone has been saying, "you'll have a girl this time around since your face is clear from outbreak?"

oh well.. what else can we do except akan datang for my next routine check in mid March.

Recently papa Ray and I have been discussing intensely over how we can cope when beanie arrives i.e. move back Sengkang and further plans.. We did come out with a few ideas but most probably we will stick to the last choice.

And in case if you want to find out more, here is our current situation:

Weekdays: Isa stays with me at Popo's house (my parents' place)

Weekends: Go back to sengkang either on friday nights or saturday nights (after my tuition class)

Proposed solutions (after my maternity leave ends in November):

  1. Maintain my admin job. And beanie will stay with Popo during weekdays till he is about 6 - 12 months old and be taken care by Isa's current babysitter and while I bring Isa home and register him for a childcare in Sengkang. Bring Isa back to Popo's house on weekends, so Ray Papa, Isa and I will only see Beanie during weekends for 6 months - 12 months (Pro: my current babysitter is a dedicated lady who loves kids plus I have a wonderful mummy who really wun mind taking care of beanie. Con: its a ridiculous idea right?! As in we only see beanie over the weekends. Estimated cost for 2 darlings: $800 per month)

  2. Quit my admin job and work as a free lance tutor/pre school teacher so that I can work near home. Send beanie to babysitter near my place, send Isa to a childcare near my place so that I can fetch/send my kids and see them everday. Bring my kids back to Popo's house every weekend. (Pro: spend more time with my kids / seeing them growing everyday. Con: be a lunatic wife who will goes after Ray papa on what time he is coming home/juggling household chores with the kids and not forgetting with my come-from-that-era-MIL. Coming back late from tuition classes. Estimated cost for 2 darlings: $900 per month)

  3. Have the option of maintaining / quitting my job. Get a domestic helper. If maintain my job, will drive to work. (Pro: can reach home earlier like 7plus so that I can still spend time with the littles ones during the evening time at home. Con: Transport fees will higher)If quit my job = work as free lance tutor/pre school teacher. (Pro: have more time with the kids in the morning as tuition centre opens from 3pm to 10pm. Con: Averagely will only reach home like around 10pm after tution ends). On both choices, will send Isa to childcare while domestic helper take care of beanie under MIL supervision so definitely a pro here as helper can help us juggle household work while Isa is in school. Estimated cost for 2 darlings: $900 per month.

By the way I have actually been offered a full time position for 2010 at my cousin's tuition centre in xxx but as he is not offering me an ideal remmuneration thus I was not very keen in helping out. But no doubt about this work is that I posses this passion for teaching / working with children. So this is yet another dilemma:

higher salary = less happy at work,

lower salary = passion for work.

So which is which now..

development at 14 weeks..

How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Connie: wonderful to know that beanie (nickname to my no. 2) is growing well.. as my morning sickness is moving off too. Now we can only wait and see if Dr Tham can tell us if it is going to be Izreal or Isadora.. *twirl fingers*
